free_rider21 wrote: XCwife theres a couple of good canon 20d's on trademe at the moment. The 20d also has 8 megapixels like the 350d but is alot larger, more solidly built and is not aimed so much at the beginner/entry level market. Downside is you cant really take it biking unless you have a very large camelback/pack. Altough I personally wouldn't bike with a 350d either - too much risk of crashing and doing damage to the camera.

Thanks for your advice, I bought one of the 20D's. I read some of the reviews and decided it would be adequate for me for a few years by which time the 5D or similar should be cheaper to buy second hand. I'll only be taking my point and shoot biking, I wanted an SLR to get better photos of people biking in our events.

Merry Christmas to me :-)

photos were taken 27 /12 /06 up at ohau lodge

i can think off worse things that police hav be caught out on

and when you consider that they have to work threw xmas and some of the hsit
that they hav to put up with ten min fishing while letting dog hav a run round aint that bad (also they arent in uniform technically)

the funny part was in the end she had to pick up dog to put in car :D

Pictures can be quite deceptive without context. Who knows what they were up to? Without details, no one can really say. I very much doubt they were fishing...

but I admit, it doesn't look too flash!

Shot this one the other weekend. Not altered at all, straight off the card. I like the atmosphere, dimming light, missing bodywork and a mean stance kind of sums the sport up for me...

My camera arrived this evening so I ran around the house taking some photos trying it out (see below), then I sat down and read the manual :D

I don't like marigold's but at least they are colourful

This is my chicken Strawberry, not in focus I know, but I liked the way she looked at the camera.

Yep, she got a 20D and the lens that comes standard with the camera I assume - an EFS 18-55mm.

I suspect there will be few opportunities for me to use it as it will become a permanent extension of her hand I feel :paranoid:

That 18-55mm lens is really good! I am using it on my 50D and very impressed with the photos it takes!
