You need a lower ISO speed. Pretty noisy pics.

Was it a DSLR camera or a point 'n shoot?

w00t!

Just picked up my 5D Mk II from Colin Kirk on Lambton Quay.

He only had the Kit available so I now have two 24-105 F4 IS lenses.... anyone wanna buy one for the kit price? $1500 vs $1990 otherwise...

Full details and photos after I've been out shooting tomorrow.

That was my ultra cheap refurbished point n shoot....like $150 worth! It was also raining quite heavily. We had just been out for dinner and were just walking along the river, went up on the ferris wheel, etc. I wasn't actually heading out to take any pics.

Thanks for the comments though.

I have just upgraded to a EOS 50D with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens and a 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS.

Travelled to a FMX event and landed these shots...

Great shots Steve...

took my 70-200 out with the 5D this morning... and I really notice the loss of length due to going to a full frame sensor... pining after an extender now!

Thanks! The FMX is always good for shots, especially when you run a sequence, the 'maximum extension' shot is guaranteed to be in amongst them. Also the bikes don't move super fast helping the clarity of the photo.

Media passes are also great for ensuring you are close to the action too haha.

Ahh the 5D! Real nice camera you have there! What brand of 70-200 do you use? The Canon one? What were you shooting this morning? I was looking at the IS lens but settled for the USM as motorsport photography doesn't have much need at all for the IS...

been scanning slides talk about saturation and doesnt help having monitor not quite calibrated at the moment for lightroom

and yeah going from 1.6 crop to no crop big difference (lens hoods that seamed short are to long )

Nice photos! I like how you have the ground in perspective in the backflip one. I have backflip ones although they were too high to catch a landmark in the frame and just looks like the photo has been turned 180 degrees...

was shooting from above the height of the ramps made it easyer and was using a 100-400mm lens which keeps good perspective even when you are below its stiil doesnt look like you are looking up as much
