Anyone getting a 5D MkII?

I have mine on order from COlin Krik... hoping to get it this week....

Some nice Video popping up... though concerning that no one is shooting it much in daylight yet...

Chris - been looking at them as the first camera worthy to upgrade to from my 20D but just waiting for some proper "in the field" reviews.

Love too... but the 40d still works well and I don't need to spend more student loan money on camera bling

Just happy with the Mk I, video is not really something that rocks my boat.

But yeah, keen to see what people say about it after some use in the real world, especially comparisons to the Mk I.

I am the same... I occasionally take video with my wee camera, but I never do anything with them... just use them for reference sometimes...

I'm upgrading from the 20D too....

Once I get it we can catch up for a long lunch and you can have a play with it....

I'm upgrading from the 20D too....

Once I get it we can catch up for a long lunch and you can have a play with it....

I'm seriously thinking of a second DSLR body to complement my 400D - would be very keen to hear your thoughts on the 5D II when you get your hands on it. I might go and have a word to Colin Kirk too.

I will be upgrading my camera next year but cannot decide between a Canon 40D and Canon 5D

I have been reading heaps of reviews and comparisons between the 2 but am still stumped

I have heard the 5D is good for wide photography and landscaped where the 40D is good for action and long distance

My photography is a mix of action and wide and both

Pros I have seen on each camera so far are

5D:
Better quality photos
Full frame

40D:
Cheaper
Newer
Faster
More functionality
Sensor cleaner
EF-S Lens compatiable


A lens I would like to purchase is the 15mm Fisheye f/2.8 though I am not sure how well this will look on a full frame camera, it looks good on a cropped body camera.


The 5D body is $1000 more than the 40D body - that is $1000 that could be spent on a lens


The 5D Mk2 costs too much for me to consider


Looking for views from those that have used either camera

I love my 40d - but I have not used a 5d so cannot comment on that. With my 17-40 f4L on, I can get nice wide shots, and with the 70-200 f4L I have been very happy with the sharpness and cropability. How much more is the 50d and does it fit into the mix anywhere?

the 50D body costs the same as the 5D Body, from what I have read the 50D is not worth it for the extra megapixels

No - I was surprised they called it the 50 and not the 45d... I was a little bummed when the new one came out until I read what they changed

would like to see what sound quailty is like on 5dmkII (not seen any samples vids with sound yet ) not a bad price but still hummin and harring between second hand 1dsmkII and 5dmkII
