Wholey bandwidth sucking photo. You want to compress it alittle

Yeah, I knew it would be bandwidth sucking....but I couldn't be bothered compressing it again, and couldn't find where I had the compressed files.....hope no-one tries to view that page on dial up.....

That was the result of perhaps 100 shots over several weeks and many early mornings. The final pic was 6 shots merged using Photoshop elements 6.0

Really??? I was considering a 40d, that has just totally closed the door on that idea.....surely there must be some manual setting that allows a longer exposure than 30 secs. I had read on line that my fuji had the same limitation.....it doesn't. I have taken 2 minute exposures on it.
In any case I was talking about the need for a cable release....if it has a self timer, which most do, you can set up your frame and everything, then set a self timer, so you can push the normal button for the shot, without the camera wobbling.

even the canon 1 series only go out to 30seconds exposure

i went for the tc-80n3 timer good for time lapse

Anyone had any experiences with the cheapie cable releases on trade me. Anything hugely worse than the genuine canon items. I probably wont use all that often and is it useful to have one with timer functions such as the tc-80n3

I am really surprised about canon's only going to 30 seconds. This is unfortunately going to put them out of my market, mind you I have a thing for the Fuji cameras anyway, I will just have to look for the right models. It is going to be just short of a year till I buy anything anyway, and in the mean time I am still able to do this.....

another use of tripods is this

to take cliche photos (just to demonstrate another use )

tripod in back manfrotto #058 (with centre extended it touches roof) with 580ex bounced off roof and bed sheet clothes pegged on

front flash metz 60-ct1

and the rest canon blah blah and sat on a chilly bin

Third from the top is the Woolworth building which was the tallest building in he world in 1913. It's my favourite, but there is some pretty stunning architecture in NYC. The Chysler building is also fab, and the Empire State is just amazing.
