Couldn't agree more. Freaking fantastic. I soooo hope it'll become an annual event. (hopefully next year I won't have a horrendous fitness destroying virus right before the race :hmmm:)

After spending the last month or two riding around Northern California Moab etc in the heat of there summer,

yesterday I went for a ride through the Wharefdale and enjoyed being back in some beach forest again

K loop.

A few berms are destroyed from 4wd drive over them and down the track  :hmmm:

Got three more people to do the pool. Two made it successfully and one badly cased (cause he was following me and I went too slow, although I made the gap  )

Video to come...

Wicked ride today. Chucked my bike on the back of the wagon, picked up my mate Al and drove up to Makara Peak.

We rode up Koru, Sally Alley (great to see how well it's riding after last week's work party!), Missing Link, then up Aratihi into the teeth of the gale to the summit where even standing was an issue.

Decided for obvious reasons that I'd give Ridgeline a miss, and then Al realised he'd lost his glasses* anyway, so we rode down the Snakecharmer as far as Missing Link, where we rode the wrong way back down looking for his shades.

After meeting several riders riding the correct way up I decided to peel off at Lazy Fern and leave Al to face any righteous ire as he gingerly picked his way down Koru.

Meanwhile I was able to have a lovely run down LF - great to see a dad taking his young son down there on brand new mtbs, using the trail as it was intended.

My new Commencal Meta 5.5 is a stunning bike. I would only describe it as a revelation after manhandling my old '02 I-Drive around. The combination of it's sharp handling, lightweight feel (haven't weighed it yet!) and me not suffering from concussion any more meant I felt on my (admittedly poor) game the whole ride.

I'm in love...

Yeah, my head feels fine now I think - certainly when I'm riding, although still blurrier night vision than usual...

My new rig is in PYR somewhere, but I don't mind posting it again! :D

Glad to hear you had an awesome first ride on the new bike!!!!

I had my first ride up Makara in a long time and experiencing the all new lows in fitness I've reached

Hopefully an improvement in the weather will mean I ride more and get fitter
