Buzzard's mint, running well at the moment

the bike Taupo crew have been busy with the trail grooming, coaster needs alot of riding in with all the new work, but the rest of the trails seem sweet (exceot for coles which loks very unridden and untendered, but still good)

Tonight I attempted to ride up Mt Pleasant in my biggest gear on my MTB in preparation for single speed. I got as far as Belleview and my lungs felt like they were gonna explode! Thanks to the guy who rides the Specialised with no helmet but sports a nice retro cap, nice drafting down the causeway enabled me to conserve my legs for the big grind uphill. Nice one! Nice to ride on dry roads for a change.

4:1 is not good preparation for riding a single speed.

It is great preparation for early knee reconstruction though. :)

I live at the top of the hill so I have no choice but to bike up it. I wouldn't be seen dead pushing my bike up! Legs felt good once I got a good rhythm on but standing up for all that time sure tests the lungs.

Well we are staying with friends outside Alberton in Montana (near Missoula). So i went exploring up a road behind their place and found a nice trail.

Very like riding back in NZ -- the Blowhard came to mind.

Tomorrow we go to Whitefish; apparently there's some mint riding nearby...

Only 1 more week and then back to reality.... :(

 that track. Haven't ridden it in so long. Hopefully will be able to steam thru on the way back from Aucks next month.

After 5 runs in an afternoon of southstar shuttles last time I went there I was pretty shagged, 8 is good going. Is it still rough as fuck up the top 1/3 or so? That was always good fun.

course is rough, has had a little bit of grooming to take some of the really big holes out, but still rough and fast
