First run was not too bad, 3.6km in a little over 15mins for me. I'm one of the slower runners haha. Onto the bike and it was soon apparrent I just didn't have that extra gear needed to pick the pace up, felt like I was pushing quite hard and not getting a lot of speed back. So the 20km 'non-drafting' leg was just over 38mins.
Last run was horrible, bit of a walk-run-walk affair for me I'm afraid. Had a stitch within the first few strides, only managed to run non-stop for the last km or so. I was aiming for 1hr10 which I think if I could have dialled in the last run I would have made, but wasn't to be today. Sounds like I'm grumbling, but I'm quite happy with it considering I'm pretty much at base fitness at present.
Crossed the line in 1hr20, apart from the zero temperature it was a great morning and a decent turn out

Yeah mate, that cold just kills your muscles aye. What time did it kick off? I was out that way about 12ish and looked like they were packing things up.

Bugger me it was cold. Fortunately the sun had melted a lot of the snow but once the sun went down it was frigging freezing.

Sprint training. Surprisingly strong. Probably riding with the "People's Champion" on Thursday has lifted my form a notch. Certainly seemed to be able to roll a little faster.

Good news was I could still pump out some decent sprint power. 1221 watts which is my third highest peak power recording.

Means I have little work to do to get strong (for cycling) and hold it. Now just got to focus on that power to weight thingee.

Fergie, beer and pies is where it's at mate. That combined with at least 3794km per week and you're good to go.......... :D

No pies and halving the beer intake. After the FOC have set up a bigger challenge. Taking on Gydey over 3000m at Canterbury Track Champs. He may be 10 years older than me but is whippet thin. Too thin perhaps to generate the power, Hmmmm.

But anyway a dozen beer is riding on the outcome so needless to say it's bigger than solving third world debt!

Started just after 10am - but registration was 8.30-9.30... so by 10am there were plenty of cold people hanging around
Was a good race though and very well organised, there were even marshalls through the biike course warning us exactly where the ice was!

Left home about 1.30pm Sunday and headed out to Sumner. Took ages to get warm. Went over Evans and into Lyttelton, then back over to Sumner. Was tempted to head along the Summit Rd as it was closed to traffic and its always nice to be up there with no cars. Headed up Clifton Hill instead and around Panorama. Then up Mt Pleasant Rd to Bellview Tce , around Heathcote Valley and up the top of Huntsbury. Bombed down Major Aitken and home. Spectacular day but cold.

Plus Ski needs the money. He is in training for the 500m at Nationals and needs to pay the deposit for my exhorbitant coaching fees!

No riding today. Last nights ride with the peoples champion cracked me.

Feck. I forgot about that. Must have been the Peronis. Best I put this pastry down then.

Short session today. Intervals 10 X 1min on 1min off at MAP pace. While my strength may be okay my aerobic form is shite. Know what I need to work on for Worlds, FOC and the Coaches Pursuit Challenge!

Training Stress Score on TrainingPeaks has dipped below -10 so will take it easy tomorrow. Might do the MTB night race on Wednesday but cruise before giving it some serious effort for the next series.

Also finding the immune system is playing ball (touch wood). Best advice I got was from Scott McDonnell (who hates the cold more than anyone) who keeps all the rooms at his house warm inc the bedroom while sleeping. This has made a big difference. Will be good to get heating in at road HQ as this is where I think part of the problem was.

Also keeping the carb levels high. Out of the piles of research (peer review of course) the only thing that really seems to boost the immune sytem is keeping CHO levels in check. Making sure I have some Leppin in my bottles on rides and something to sip on in the store.

SB's last night for me. Real cold!!! Some cock in a matt-black 80's cortina station waggon came up behind me honking his horn just before Lyttelton. I let him pass, then he braked hard in front of me (no reason but to piss me off) so I went to go around and he swerved out pushing me into the oncoming traffic lane. Was young and playing silly buggers. After passing me again he proceeded to stay slow braking several times causing me to take evasive action each time. Stupid girlfriend was looking back all the while.

I carried on and he passed me on top of Evans again. *555'd his ass  . If you see KP4775, kick his door in will you? :p

Yesterday I had my race on the cobbles. It was on a industrial estate near Rotterdam. Went there on my bike so the first 20k were easy.. :) During the race I felt good and attempt to escape a few times but there was not much wind at nice conditions, 25degs. At the last round the speed went up to 50-55 kph and the peloton broke in pieces. Managed to stay in the front and became third..

Pics are coming soon..

At the moment everything is football football and football.. :(

Me, in grey and red, black helmet..

Silly woman!!
