Yes, Avantibill is agreeing with Conners that Woodsy's shot of the Moeraki Boulders and the trees are fantastic shots... Sheesh. :eh:

Hey peoples... looking at getting a flash for the 40d! Question is:

Is the 430ex $150 CAD better than the 420ex?

you will have to scroll down abit before they compair the two

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Revi ... eview.aspx

the 430ex has the feature of knowing the size of the sensor and adjusting to it for output

40d sensor factor of 1.6

1d sensor factor of 1.3

1ds sensor factor of 1

OK, so now I want to ask...

I've got an old Canon Powershot A80 (one of the older ones with full manual controls and stuff, but I'm stuck with the lens attached to the camera).

If I want to improve the shots that I take, and start to extend out so that I use the full manual mode more than the point and shoot modes, is there any good websites that explain thinks like balancing up the F values and shutter speeds etc? Just after some info so I know what its talking about, and generally just where to start.

Cheers... from what I can tell what I will be using the flash for, the 420 will work fine for me... Then I can just save for a 580 and have my wireless master and a slave unit for it...

I have bought two books from Amazon. It will give you some good tips, Volume 2 seems to be more for photographers that have the bling or bottomless pockets full of money and can afford numerous different types of external flashes, at least 2 camera bodies and countless different types of lenses, filters etc!
