F2.8 (or as high as you can) + manual focus = fences disappear.

Also helps (with SLR) to keep panning after you know the shutter has gone. Its that split second when you cant see through the mirror that it takes it. I use to slow down/stall when I heard the click, but it makes for FAIL pictures. I now keep panning even after lifting the finger.

Also (giving away my trade secret here) the human stabliser. If you have a large lens like my 70-200, hold your left arm out straight, bend back toward your chest. Rest the lens above your elbow on the kink (you will find a spot to settle it)

Put the camera to your eye, and with your left hand, grab lightly/rest it on the top of your right wrist.

I'll take a pic one day if you can't figure it out. But it can help dramatically

OK so it doesn't disappear, but it sure as hell makes a difference to what takes your eye.

Some examples...

CHC airport fence :/ F4
spotty.jpg
Orana park fencing F3.2
IMG_3128.jpg
Straight... approx 130kph by that stage (they hit 220 at the end) 1/250
IMG_3246.jpg
Wide angle follow panning (reallly fast twist that close :P ) 1/320
lola.jpg
behind fence... 1/80th of a second, human stabiliser (Yes, that slow. does not mean bad pics :) )

Most of my shots are on an EOS 20D through either a 24-105 F4 L or 70-200 F2.8 L
