Went for a skid around the makara loop yesterday evening.

Good to see there has been some seal laid down over the longest gravel bit (I haven't been out that way for a few weeks).

Legs felt pooze for the whole ride, but I enjoyed getting out there all the same. :)

What a shit of a ride. I'd much rather do Short Bays.

Bloody frozen by the time we'd got back down to Centaurus too :hmmm:

But it was a really nice day today? :eh:

I rode out to Sumner and back chasing cars and shit

Same!! Went out with Rachelr for what was supposed to be a recovery ride having instructed 4 spin classes in 3 days  ... only problem was Rachelr had other ideas & chucked the hammer down on the causeway & then had the nerve to say in Redcliffs that I didn't have to chase!!! Yeah right! :eh: :p

Went for a burn up to the top of Evans and back. Beautiful day- no wind. Just missed out again from going under 10minutes without the help of the wind, but was pretty stuffed going hard out to Lyttelton.

Got in a race with this retro Euro cyclist- no helmet, long hair in a ponytail, retro bike.
He didn't like me flying past on that first hill past Gov'nors so got on my tail not saying anything. So I kept the pace on, and then left him at Rapaki up that short, sharp hill.
Probably put a good 5minutes on him by the time I got to the top of Evans, as I passed him on the way back giving him a nice friendly wave-him still only half way up looking buggered. :D

Lucky I had 20yrs on him though, as he could well have kicked my arse back in the day!

John's a fricken legend. When he won the National 10 mile on the track they carried him on his bike to the podium. Pity he gets more respect in Belgium for what he has done on the bike than in NZ.

Jo & I headed around the Bays today! My first full bays loop on my roadie... (It's been a bit neglected lately!) Other than the wind (arrghhhh!! Damn northerly up Ohiro Rd!!) it was a lovely day out

Good fun, good company & I feel I have earned the chocolate I am now eating... :paranoid:

Oh and the wonderful Slackboy took time out of his day to securely attach my cleat to my shoe after I lost a screw... Starch free baking coming his way

the only reason to go up evans is if you live out there - it's not much fun (mainly due to the traffic). Mt Pleasant is better (less traffic and more varied)

however summit rd from evans to kiwi is one of my fave bits - lovely rolling terrain with climbs you can really dig it in and suffer on - wheras 'proper' short bays has the long boring trundle into town from sumnre on the flat

Me and Dezal did the fig 8 this morning. Awesome day to be out on the bike, especially when the sun's just coming up. We did a 15:26 up the bastard which knocked 34secs off my pb and we were chatting most of the way up  It wasnt't till we were close to the top that I noticed we were tracking for a good time so we picked up the pace. :D

Had some weirdo latch on to our wheels doing the Gov to Evans section. He would sprint past us and we'd keep passing him by maintaning our speed. Each time he'd sit on our wheel for a bit then take off again. No issue there. At the bottom of Evans both me and Dezal attemped several times to make conversation with him but despite our best efforts (I even resorted to shouting in case he was deaf!) he wouldn't even acknowledge that we existed, let alone speak! :eh: Anyway we decided we'd had enough and ramped it up a notch. After a while we could hear his H/R monitor beeping (presume max h/r) and he dropped off the back, but man what a psycho! Tats on his calves and everything. Some strange people ride bikes...

LOL maybe people just dont want to talk to us :paranoid:
Also our little sprints are fun  BUt I liked the last ones most :D
The best part of the day was at SOK the gril in the hot pink pants  and for some reson she looked a little cold :0
But it was a good day to be out round the bays :D Now its time to cut the lawns and do stuff round the house :hmmm: It would be much more fun to be back out on the bike

Not very far actually. Left home at 7:40am to meet the ESG guys. Nicely cleaned bike, new crank bearings & chain, so running (& looking) like a bought one, then 2.2k down the road got full-on t-boned by a num skull. Now have a 2-piece bike!

Amazingly I didn't break anything, despite flying for 2 1/2 lanes over Blenheim Rd. Some scrapes and some very bruised legs.

Looked like such a nice day for a ride too :(

Not expecting anything. He was a bit of a down & outer and as the cop said, not really a surprise that he doesn't have any insurance.

Where's that petition to get 3rd party insurance made compulsory?
