Which is a remake of a Chow Yun Fat flick.

Yah, City on fire, which was in Chinese, so I dunno how that would have flown in western markets.

If you want to use plot appropriation, Fast and the Furious was a remake of Point Break.

So...
Ignore remake, grab a copy of the original, listen to the intro of the Greg Proops Film Club episode, watch movie, listen to the rest...

Good times.

Out of the hundreds(?) of Hollywood remakes how many were even worthwhile, other than to cater to people who can't read or who get nervous at the sound of a non-US accent?

There were some good cowboy films remade from Kurosawa's samurai movies. And a new crop is on the way:
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2011/sep/01/akira-kurosawa-remakes

Steven Soderburg remade Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 sci-fi pic Solaris in 2002, cutting an hour and adding George Clooney. Definitely worthwhile.

The remake of Nikita was a pointless inferior copy.

Anything else? There must be some good ones.

Its OK to pirate the remake if you paid money for the original, right?

Sequel. With Ridley Scott still in charge. I'm surprisingly okay with this.

I'd love to know where they'll take it. Go to one of the off-world colonies maybe?

The problem is they're bringing back Ford as Deckard, which answers the fundamental question left hanging from the original. Not cool.

Yeah, in the directors cut, but even with that you can wonder.

For every film, there is a universe containing a directors cut.
