Le Petit Brevet

Postby timmulliner on Fri 6/Aug/10 9:15pm

After the great success of the inaugural Kiwi Brevet organised by legendary kiwi cyclists, promoters and advocates the Kennet Brothers, a smaller, shorter event will take place on the Banks Peninsula late 2010 – Le Petit Brevet.

Le Petit Brevet will run under the same philosophy of the Kiwi Brevet in that the event is entirely self supported along a set route with a challenging time-limit. The route is not finalised yet but it will be strenuous:

-300 km of mainly back-roads and some single track
-36 hour time limit (Saturday 8am start, Sunday 8pm finish)
-5’800 m of vertical climbing (and descending)

More info can be found on: http://lepetitebrevet.blogspot.com/

Oh count me in too Tim. I think five weeks is enough to get over the 24 solo champs.
So - mostly seal, or gravel, or offroad, or a fair mix of everything?

Mind if I put on my pedant hat? Shouldn't it be "le petit brevet"? (Since le is masculine and petit is the masculine form of petite?). At least that's what my third form French from 14 years ago tells me? :eh:

Google translate? :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevet_(cycling)
Brevet means 'certificate' and refers to the card carried by randonneurs which gets stamped at controls; it is also used to refer to the event itself, ie: a certificated ride.

also
http://dictionary.reverso.net/french-english/brevet
Which indicates brevet is a masculine noun of the french language

since its a masculine noun, "le" is indicated, and the masculine form of the adjective "petit".
OTW it would be feminine "la", and the feminine form of the adjective "petite".

Course thats all google knowledge, not mine.
