Pedals should be metal.

Plastic pedals are more or less as strong. All the internals are metal anyway it's just the outer skid plates or whatever you want to call them. BMXers have been using plastic pedals for years

Negatory.
One rock and you'd have a gark in the plastic, just like you would in a metal one, and the plastic slides off the rock better than aluminium does. :)

Plastic pedals have their place in BMX. But plastic shatters, metal does not. For anything other than DH they'd probably be a good idea. I just don't think vulnerable parts like pedals should be made with parts that can shatter.

Yup. Goes into a 44mm head tube that would normally have an internal cup on the top but has an external cup instead by the look. Kinda the opposite of how the headset that lets me run a tapered steerer in my 1 1/8 zero strack frame works by the looks.
