Mid Summer Whariti Hill Climb

We've had the Mid Winter version, now for the Mid Summer (close to the shortest day) event. If you raced in June you'll have something to compare with, if not come along and give it a go. If you're not half bad on hill climbs come with the aim to give our winter champ, under 17 rider Josh Russell-Gibbs a challenge. He blasted up in a time of 46min21.

It's a 10km climb up Whariti Road, start of the gravel to end of the gravel. Not for the faint hearted, it’s a good hard slog. We’ll probably go with a handicapped start (slowest riders sent off first) to reduce the amount of time riders stand around at the top in the cold (yes even summer could be cold). Warm gear will be transported to the top for riders to put on afterwards. Ride down after last rider to the top. For safety reasons there will be NO support vehicles on the road while the race is underway however they may go up ahead beforehand and return after the last rider finishes.
