I have to attend a family function in Rotovegas this weekend ,young fellas keen on a ride hes been getting out to forty km mildly hilly to rolling road rides getting ready for his Taupo ride, has anyone ridden round lake Rotorua ,whats the road like? the map my ride profile looks ok in that the boy should be able to cope with the hills without too much of a problem.
I was thinking of sneaking away from the whanau earlyish on Sunday so we should be clear of too much traffic and hopefully be back before the hungover cuzzies drag their sorry butts out of bed

Sneaking away from the whanau for a ride in rotorua is traditional.
On the road it's a crime.

It's not too bad a ride, i've done a few laps over time, it's a rolling sort of a ride, couple of spots of no shoulder, but earlyish it should be okay, for a 40km roadie i'd head up the cycle path /road towards rainbow mountain or head into the Waikite valley
