So Facebook for me used to be a way to keep in touch with/stalk people I know and see what's going on locally.

Now it's just a bunch of ads and things like "your friend liked THIS!" without showing me friend updates and whatnot, even the events feed is all shot to shit.

I'm wondering if people on here are flicking it off at a high rate of knots because they're having the same experience?

Are you trying to Facebork from a phone? I've not done that but have been told advert infestation is worse that way.
I get a couple of ads a day I guess.

It helps a lot to put Friends in the right intimacy category, ignoring the names of those categories.
One friend is under Family because her Likes are seldom and are quality. My nieces are under Acquaintances, to spare me their cheerful babble.

I see virtually zero ads on my phone. I logged on to the poota the other day to upload some photos and found the Facebook experience much more invasive.

But Scotty, if you ditch Facebook where are you going to get sweet offers on Raybans and Oakleys??? (and no - I don't consider those to be advertising, that's hacking/spamming)
