Bike Documentary

Postby GloryDH0 on Mon 5/Mar/12 3:35pm

Hey guys, for Media Studies at school I have a year to produce a documentary on a subject of my choosing so naturally I chose mountain biking (downhill specifically). Now I just have to think of ways to incorporate downhill into a documentary format video of about 6 minutes. I had one idea and that was to document some sort of training and build up to a race. Just wondering if any Vorbii had any suggestions. I'll probably end up posting this documentary online when its finished as well.

maybe building a piece of track or jump/structure - pinching the tools out of shed - doing the rounds to source timber/materials - camaraderie of everyone involved - tweakn the bike to hit new section for first time

find a rider entering the Lyttelton Urban DH that's coming up (26th March?), follow them on some of their training and then film on raceday. Bingo!

Maybe theres a local pro who will let you document their preparations for the race, their kit, mindset, etc. Then interview them a bit before & after the event, with the obligatory race footage mixed in.

I would watch that.

Maybe have a word with Mildie - he would probably be the best sources of info on DH around at the moment, he may have some ideas for you

Thanks for the quick replies, I am in Palmy (yes you may laugh at the lack of mtb'ing) so anywhere around there would be very helpful. The only race I am going to in the near future is the Secondary Schools champs in Levin later this month so I may just do a lot of filming there and then film the 'training scenes' etc after the actual event as theres only 3 weeks to go.

Schoolboy age you got local pinner Jack Humphries or almost locals there with the Melles boys they're pretty talkative, or further down coast I'm sure pin up boys Jamahl Stringer or Jack futter love the camera and are keen pinners who work at their skills.
