What made me choose it was sales persons recommendation - price is an irrelevant consideration when it comes to choosing a bike IMHO.
Differences in geometry include the Hardrock has shorter toptube, wheelbase, and lower bottom bracket (this years model anyway and probably when I bought mine). :)

Doesn't sound like a very humble opinion to me!

If the salesman was pushy and tried to sell you more than you were ready to pay for, then I would avoid that shop in future, because that's just rude and unpleasant; I hate having "sales jobs" done on me.
If, on the other hand, he offered fair advice and recommendations, and you chose to listen, then it is hardly his fault that you then changed your mind. And unless there was a clear and very upfront agreement that you could take the bike 'on spec', then you have only yourself to blame.

We've all made mistakes like this. Sometimes you're lucky and the shop or whoever will help you out. Other times, you have to just suck it up.

I’d get back into buying from the shop now.

I can understand how you would be bitter towards them but….I wouldn’t want to waste 50kms of fossil fuel and a load of time out of spite  just to buy bike gear…a new bike yes, but not a line of patches or a tyre…

You need to move closer to your workplace, or get a new job that is closer to your house. I live under 5km from both my jobs.

"LOL" is the number-1 signifier of internet Tardness, followed by text speak and completely missing the point.

People have commented on what they would suggest, not telling what he should or must do.

50k is not a huge distance, but it is worth considering especially if you are talking about going out to buy a couple of $8 inner tubes.

You might be happy with wasting your money on petrol, not everybody else is that fortunate (or stupid).

Geez, talk about Captain Serious.

Alright, i may have come across being abit - "harsh.." but, FFS why is everyone so damn serious around here? For you information, the offending "LOL" was put to try and lighten up the comment? i guess that next time i will try and refrain from trying to make a light hearted comment and be a sour shrew like the rest of some of you folk.

I live that far out of work because i enjoy it? Not everybody is a "townie", or likes living so close to their neighbour as soon as they fart outside all three houses can smell it. Since when is that a crime? Did the thought that maybe i dont pay for my running expenses cross your mind? Yet, somehow that makes ME stupid?
