Oh yes, back when phones had extendable aerials. Who'd of thunk that getting rid of these, and making the batteries smaller, would make them not function as well...

haha dad had one of those about 10 years ago.. it was indestructible. They don't make em like they used to

Vodafone all the way. I moved to Telcom on a corp deal about 5 years ago and had major trouble with my new phone dropping calls I went through about 5 to 6 phone trying to get it sorted apparently, there where 2 carrier lines if it went to the wrong one it would dropped the call, I was getting voice mail messages but I had coverage. In the end I got Telcom to negate my contract as they were not living up to there end of the contract. Bloody very very hard company to negotiate with and went back to good old faithful Vodafone.

Seems like the brand has taken too much damage.

In an interview today Telecom's communications director Mr Shelby Wright confirmed rumours that the network is be re-branded. "The new Alivio brand is vibrant and much closer to our core market values. The market has spoken - durability and robustness are what is needed".

I agree - Vodafone have been pretty terrible for me to deal with over the last 19 months...
Next to no signal, constant dropping of calls when going between 3G and 2G.
A readiness to bill, but a complete distain for offering help, oh and a simply diabolical website.
My dealings with Telecom (landline, broadband and my old CDMA phone) have always been just fine.
I'm happy with them within my current usage, so see a lot of the media coverage as merely whipping up the flames to fill column inches.
Truth is, ringing up to complain or going in a store may be handy if you want to have 'proof' of your hardship in order to get out of a contract... but mostly, it's just making a fuss and getting a feeling of 'being important'.
But really, we're just walking wallets to communications companies - they don't love us, and we needn't love them.
Build a bridge.

Or just go to Vodafone who are now paying people's break fees. Much easier.

It was four I think. Telecom elected to launch with only two in place and install the others in March or April '10. World class.

Voda are having problems of their own, just not suffering the same media beat up as Telecom.
