Yeah me too, a mate of mine has just got one (his first SLR... :jealous: ) and after seeing some of ThingOne's results with his I've definitely got one on the wish list. Although my 450D is still well above my current skillset - but hey, dreams are free.

I assume you're wanting the 550 for video capability?

Yep exactly. Basically a mini-7D as far as I'd use it. Eventually I'll run a 550D and a 7D for multiple cam shooting but want a 550D before nationals, its mainly for the 60FPS shooting, makes slow-mo insanely clean and also the full manual control.

Ouch 7D as a first SLR? Talk about a steep learning curve, was bad enough moving from a 350D.

The 7d was my first camera as well :)
My theory on this is that if I dont buy upper market and buy cheaper I nearly ALWAYS regret it then feel sad everytime I see the object of my desires, eventually ending up selling first object to upgrade to second... so its actually cheaper and less hassle for me in the long run to just get the better one to begin with.

7D is a great camera, but from what i have learnt, the operator is huge part of the equation.

The videos from it are stunning at full HD on my 46 XSeries sony telly.

Now I want some L Series glass..

Agree in part - only problem is for people who are getting into stuff that they may not actually use (or be any good at using), and end up selling. And by the time I upgrade, 7Ds will be way much cheaper

Short test of the steadicam. Came out sweet being the first shots with it. Should be awesome for filming with.
