Another vote for Macbook/pro + CS4/lightroom + ext HDD. just make sure you get a good reliable laptop with a lot of room. You may spend a bit more now but it will be useful for a lot longer if you buy a quality machine.

I used to have an acer - it was nice, and then it died (had a good run though)

My new acer is annoying and cheap - its a year on and I can't wait to replace it... Metal body FTW. :)

Had a bit of a road trip the other day, took a few shots, mostly of the sunrise and then the mountain. Was nice to have a train turn up right on cue.

Very nice, love the stillness of the water. Slightly underexposed perhaps? With a little bit more light you get a kinda-like-daylight-but-not-really look. I say this from no experience of taking moonlit shots though! :eh: - just having seen other people's work on tinterweb.

And to further exercise my own hypocrisy, here's an under-exposed long exposure I took yesterday morning :p

My camera's shutter speed only goes to a max of 60secs. The aperture was set at f 2.8

I like your pic with the water looking rather silky

Tomahawk ( AKA Ocean Grove) a semi rural suburb of Dunedin on the South - East part of the Otago Peninsula. Happy to report that there was no destructive tsunamis today :)

I played around with lighting set-up with sefl-portaits today as the sun went down, took me a while though to remember my pocketwizards only sync to 1/200s so I was moving my flash all over the place trying to figure out why my RH side was always dark! Finally clicked that my shutter speed was at 1/500s and it was the shutter curtain itself blocking the light, no matter where the flash was set up

Anyway heres the result with the shutter speed brought back to where it should be, the suns just going down behind the tree in the background to give some backlight with my flash set up camera right and fairly close to me, just below the height of the camera.
