Man .... I thought it was my riding that was improving... :p

"the putting right" has really helped

and as for the Snails name, I came across this today:

Wainuia snails

They also have unusual eating habits. Some feed on small forest sand hoppers called amphipods. These animals are fast jumpers but the snails, which generally move slowly, can shoot out their extendable mouthparts much quicker. The amphipod is grasped by rows of sharp teeth (the radula) and then drawn back into the snail faster than you can blink. :o

MEAN! Where abouts is the entrance to this? I see the photos on the Vorb home page so often, and say to myself "It'd be so cool..."

I want to ride there!

When also is the prjected finish date?

Entrance is mentioned in posts on pretty much every page of this thread. The ones advising dig details.

This thread started in February and work has just passed the half way stage. Trail will probably be finished after 10 or 12 more pages are added to this thread, depending on how many people turn up to help dig.

Be warned, this track goes down the hill but if ya want to go fast you have to work (ie pedal) you wont be able to let your brakes off and let gravity do it for you, as it is a shallow grade aimed at begineer riders, those who have to drag their brakes on most other track so not to get up to much speed yet it will hopefully be intresting still with the use of technical sections.

:)

And to FeHT,        could not have said it better at all.

Ps sorry to ask but are you one of the usual suspects for a Sunday dig?

I had my first look out there in ages - the track is looking good, and you are right it is a very mild grade. I rode back up most of it in my middle 2/3 gears, except for steeper bit at the end of the gravelling.

Snail Trail dig this week.

Sunday the 13th September, starting from 10:00am

Meet at the trail end, wander up Labyrinth until you see the turn off just before the first section of wooden retaining. Digging is happening about 500m down the track.

Food and tools and provided.
