I don't think you can oversell this dig .

I rode the rock garden again today and it is just superb :D for what it's been built for - just the right length, right slope and right rockiness - so a big thank you to all the ladies & gentlemen who shifted every rock into place. The narrow squeeze was cool and the new step a beauty.

This track is so well thought out it's going to be an incredible asset to the region for those in the beginner / intermediate range (and fun for the others on their rigids!).

You will want to be a part of creating it

BUT reverence please... if you make it as far as Hickie predicts... you will be the first or maybe only people in the region who have ever been allowed to build MTB track through forest like this  real special

Unfortunately I won't be there now so someone else will be in charge of morning tea :(

My plans of a quiet early night have been scuttled by flu amongst the marine forecasters - bugger it - so I'm on nightshift, possibly another one tomorrow night too (on my weekend off! Arse!)...

Have fun everyone.

We will,

Make sure you kick him under the thumb out of bed when you crawl in and tell him to get his arse out here :D :D

and if you could wrangle up a better forecast, it would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately Paul is in Hong Kong so I can't whinge to him - in fact, he's threatened to barricade us in the forecast room in the event of a swine flu outbreak & send food up in the lift!

Yep, Geoff shall be boosted from the bed at 7am ;)

And there's brownie sitting on the bench for one lucky digger at least (I'm afraid the rest came into work with me for the other poor workers who drew nightshift on a Sat night...)

Well the temperature is positive, even after wind chill, it hasn't rained for a number of hours that I can tell and the cloud is high enough that you can see the top of the hill, so given that the bushlove team are such hard arses I think things are all go!

Thanks to the bush love guys for coming along as well as a number of our regulars. We made some good progress with new track as well as fixing up a few bits that had already been built.

You may also notice some new temporary signs up by the top gate. Unfortunately I was so buggered by the end that I didn't get up to the Spoonhill area to put signs up there as I was planning to do. I should get some in down the Waiu St area later this week. Look out for our more permanent signs coming later this year, they should be rather impressive!

Next dig should be in 2 week times weather permitting.
