Wtb. Help A Mtber Become A Part-time Roady

Postby Phippsy on Sun 28th Jan 9:53pm

Have gotten a bit more used to riding this now and thinking of potentially dabbling in cx this winter.

Wanting a wider range cassette (currently 11-23 8 speed)

Wanting to change from downtube shifters to a bar lever combo if possible.

I guess tires aswell

Open to anything and Any advice as I have no idea
(Looking to spend as little as possible)

Many thanks !

Buy a mtb cassette (I'm assuming cassette from 11-23 range), I've got a 7spd on my old roadie which works fine.

8spd combo levers exist, either a bit older or bottom end but more recent, they tend to be a bit spendy to buy by as parts, don't know if the pull ratio is the same as downtube levers though.

Doesn't look like a lot of clearance for bigger tyres on the front end.
