Winemaker/triathlete/mtbiker New To Blenheim Area

Postby chamuco on Thu 4/Mar/10 5:56pm

Hi Guys,
I will be working during vintage in the Brancott Montana winery. I won't have a car, so I was wondering what was best to bring, the MTB or the roadie? Are there any trails within riding distance from town? I really won't have much time to be driving to trails anyway....

And also I'm looking for a place to stay close to the winery... anyone interested?

Thanks!

It looks like its about 4-6 km from woodbourne.
For MTB I'm into XC. I love singletrack, and technical stuff. I would be bringing a steel hardtail.

Brancott is on the other side of town from Woodbourne, on SH1 on the way to chch. There's a little bit of riding near town up in the withers, but the best stuff (wakamarina, nydia, whites bay, anakwa) is a bit further afield, and would be a bit of a mission without a car. I'd go roadie if you definitely can't get transport, or you could try hook up with some local riders who go out there regularly. Some of those rides are truely outstanding, well worth the effort.

The Brancott vineyard is near Woodbourne. The Brancott winery is at Riverlands, on the way to Chch as Butch says.
So as a winemaker I'd suspect you'll be at Riverlands ;)
