David Bain, perhaps? No, he didn't.

Kind of assumed that, given the news today.

Unfortunately DB got stuck in the middle of not proved to have done it, and at the same time not proved to have not done it .

I guess it's fair paying his legal costs on that basis, it seems any other compensation requires absolute proof of innocence.

only he knows whether he did it or not. But that's beside the point - the fact is, he was in prison for umpteen years and then they couldn't prove he'd done it. Remember how we're all supposed to be deemed "Innocent until proven guilty". The police totally fucked up the case, and as a result they couldn't prove guilt? Therefore, he's 'innocent', which means he was wrongly held for umpteen years for a crime they couldn't prove he'd done, so why the fuck shouldn't they compensate him for that? It's a fucking debacle.

My view is that he definitely did it but that's beside the point.

It does seem disjointed the way it's shaken down. For the criminal case the police had to prove he was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt whereas for the compensation he had to prove he was innocent on the balance of probabilities. Need Vorb's inhouse counsel to explain it to us!

It's a bit OJish, he should now write a best selling book called 'If I did it'

If anything, it is all a lesson in why politicians should be the last people in charge of things like that.

Is Gable Tostee guilty of anything more than having a bad name?

Really surprised at the result, I thought it would be manslaughter for sure. She didn't fall off the balcony as everyone is talking about, she was trying to climb down to the next one to escape him.

Also I think what his lawyer said about him being entitled to remove someone from his property was a pretty massive red herring, locking someone on your balcony is not removing them from your property.
