You are not the first to say so  although someone else did refer to it as "Numb bum" and was recommending other riding...

So... another question. I have my bike set up 1 x 10 at the moment (32 to 11-36) and while am reasonably fit and a relatively strong rider I am not at mega fitness levels. Should I put a double (22:32) on so I can winch my way up steep climbs or are most of the climbs there ok on the single ring?

Yup. 3 weeks riding. Whistler, North Shore, Squamish, Pemberton and Chilcotins... Will probably only spend a day in the park on a hired DH bike which means the rest of the time I will be earning the rewards...

Make sure you have a caesar when in Canada, too many people return without having tried one of the best morning cocktails/ hangover cure in the world.

Don't have any other practical advice about BC sorry, apart from the airport have only made it as far west as Banff. Other thing is Canada's not the US when it comes to buying stuff, not the range as the States and comparable price to NZ.

That's not true of Whistler itself, at least with respect to range of stuff available.

Going to Whistler and riding xc is a bit like going to a whorehouse and spending your time jacking off.

I took my Reign X last time and rode in the park and everywhere else you are going setup as 2x9 (24:36 to 11-34) and only found I needed granny for one particularly long climb out in the Chilcotins at the end of the trip when I'd been riding for 15 straight days. I'd say you'd be OK on a single ring 32 front but if you've got the bits then why not.

My Nomad is setup 2 x 10 (24:36 to 11-36) and that will be how it remains for my trip there this time riding the same locations except not heading out to the Chilcotins this time (stunning country though).

Whistler XC is more like NZ all mountain I'm sure you'd agree.
