"is described as 'largely unridable' by event organisers"... Speaking of unrideable: went out the Hutt Valley for a ride around Stokes Valley today. Starting on the Old Soil Bureau, turning left at the two water towers to close the loop to Stokes again. Was so overgrown and steep/slippery during the climb that we had to push the bike a far bit. Blast down back from the 4WD to Kamahi Street was beautiful fast technical single track. Detailed route here.

First ride in a few months yesterday, nice wee poote around Wainui.
Jungle Scout/Gym, Labyrinth, Spoon/491, Wetlands, Directa, Snails.

First time on Snails - what an AWESOME track! It matched my current skill level much better than Spoon/491 :lol:

I did ride Hanmer's Threshold for the first time on Saturday. It was awesome. Even with my forks locked out (what a dick oi!)

First ride since munting a rib a few weeks back

Rode* the ups with the agility of a rhinoceros and the downs with the agility of an albatross on land

Nice one Colin. Rata ridge is one of my favourite rides anywhere.

I headed out at Makara this morning to blow off a few post-brevet cobwebs in the Tour de Peak. I took the same route as last year, but was nearly five minutes slower! :blush:

Popped out to watch the national cross country series at mount Vic, impressive stuff, looked ugly. Then we went out to Miramar and did three laps of jail break and a few circuits on the pump track. Quality track building. Good to see Ben and the other builders, pity couldn't stay for a chat.

Did a pre-race sift round Karapoti on Friday. Gorge & Rock Garden are pretty rough, all else was pretty rideable. Lots of fallen trees across the track though - all small stuff.

Been like that for months. Been reading similar comments one here since before Xmas.

Not enough racers pre-riding taking a bush saw and a few minutes out of their training to improve their race day experience.
