Where Are You Go, New Zealand Premiere

Postby Melissa_Theuriau on Mon 1st Mar 2:20pm

2nd March
7.30pm, upstairs at Chicago, Queenswharf.

Four months on a bicycle between Cairo, Egypt and Cape Town South Africa is not your typical African safari.
En route with the Tour d' Afrique, the world's longest bicycle race and expedition, the Zenga Bros. (CAN) and Brian Vernor (USA) make light of this physically daunting trip by sharing a universal love of the bicycle with Africa's roadside mechanics, sporting racers, and innumerable curious strangers.
Traveling more than 70 miles per day, 50 racers and expedition riders experienced the boundless Nubian desert of Sudan, the great majesty of Victoria Falls, and finally the cold rush of the Atlantic Ocean.
Where Are You Go captures the 7,000 mile expedition as a constant adventure full of playfulness and mysterious beauty, and is a testament to the endurance of human curiosity.

Cracker! I'd better clear my diary... That looks fantastic, despite the whacky title...!

Uh-oh... I'm not sure I can afford $8k euro or 4 months off work at the mo. This sounds pretty freaking cool though. I like the EFI concept, a lot!

"Each full tour racer is allowed a limited number of grace days, whereby their worst stage times are deducted from their total time. In addition, there are also a number of mando days, on some of the toughest stages, which cannot be used as grace days. The winners of each mando day receive a time bonus, as does any racer who rides EFI (every f…ing inch) of the Tour."

I think of it as a perfect between-jobs adventure.

I seem to recall you could do it in stages which made it more affordable and doable for working folk.

True - they price about 7 or 8 stages from memory... Costly to get to and from though, esp from this part of the world!
