The limiting factor is deffo my phone with a crappy gps, buried in my pack. You can see in some places it has me doing spirals down the hill

Alices is more technical than Yoda or Chutes IMO, so you're doing OK. With a big slack bike it's just a case of committing. Maybe the worst bit is the first chute in CH&L because you drop the steep bit and think it's over, but it's actually still steep and quite loose and you have another 15 metres or so of track to ride before the catcher berm finally slows you down.

We did a big weekend on the gravel roads round Banks Peninsula last week, it was fantastic.
Next week we are planning to ride our first 1000+m climb. https://www.strava.com/segments/3762831

I had a bumper summer in 2013/2014, but have totally lost interest since...

I had a hack at Le Petit Brevet down in Akaroa, which was amazing.
My longest day ride was a loop of the Waikakaho, Wakamarina, and Nydia Bay in about 18 hours.
I rode from Lower Hutt to Hastings on my cross bike, covering the 350km in 12.5 hours.
I hit up the Kiwi Brevet, completing the 1100km in a little over 3.25 days.

I've since DNF'd a few rides/brevets, lost interest in racing, and started getting fat again, haha

This was pretty sick. Camp Saddle above Craigieburn.

The resized imaged looks even more useless than the full size one. Here for embiggened: http://i.imgur.com/jT9B29e.jpg

Sigma.co.uk road tested my supposedly new Garmin 520 for a month before sending it to me. :hmmm:

 You have to laugh about something like that.

I'd be tempted to send sigma.co.uk an email inquiring as to why however lives at 3 Avondale Ave. might have taken your 520 for a spin up the Olympic road race climb of "Box Hill"

Would it be one that had been sold and returned?

I dunno. It looked new enough that I reckon it was staff. Have had a whinge and got a 10% code for my next order. I'm pretty happy because it was bloody cheap anyway.

We spent a couple of weeks in Southern Laos last month and managed about 25 hours of ridding during the two weeks.
Got our first ever 1000+ meter climb.
At this time of year it's warm, sunny and no wind.
There's a village about every 5 kms. It help make for a nice cruisy ride as we kept stopping for food, drink and ice creams.
Would love to go back and spend a couple of months riding both Northern Laos and Thailand.

Rode the Hamilton River cycle path from Flagstaff down to the Hamilton Gardens and back on Tuesday, its a really nice ride. Friend of mine needed a lift down there so took the opportunity to do a ride I hadnt done before. Rode around the gardens a bit as well (slowly) even though apparently you arent meant to, several staff saw me and clearly didnt care :) Probably cos there wernt a lot of people around and I was riding like a nana
