that'l be the one. Thought I remembered somewhere in the past (but recent) I got an extra 7 cents or something.

nothing staggeringly interesting in the stuff article - though it is just the media reporting of the budget.

Anyone got a decent yet simple review of what it (the budget) means that is unbiased?

i mean, all the stuff on stuff is about babs :0

That guy is an embarrassment to baboonkind :(

What it means is that you don't get the tax cut that National used to buy your vote. Also they've cut contributions to the super fund, but that's fair enough I suppose because there's not really much sense in borrowing money at a higher interest rate to reinvest it in something which generates less interest...

I guess one good thing is that by not doing the tax cut thing they won't have to borrow for tax cuts :)

I didnt vote national so they didnt buy my vote ;-)

had a quick hunt and so far all I can find is nat nuts raving how smart the budget is and Lab lackies saying how bad it is :-(

Is there a summary of facts without judgements somewhere? I'd like to decide for myself whether it will be good or bad for me rather than have someone tell me - but I cant be bothered reading the whole budget (dont ask for much do I  )

How laudable of you not to sully your reputation by having an actual opinion.

I very much doubt it.

It's probably the best they could do under the circumstances.... But they still backed out of their ridiculous tax cut promises. Shame on National and shame on everyone who got sucked into voting for them by the "time for change.... and we'll give you money!" mantra :)

I find it difficult to form an opinion between two things without enough information from which to decern a difference. how do you manage it?

By reading the two links posted above that set the budget out in pretty extensive detail? :eh:

I found them rather limited articles, I wanted more, but not the entire budget.

My opinion based upon what I have so far read?

Essentially no effect on me personally, or professionally - completely neutral in that regard (which is why I was hunting for some more info). As for the good ol "good for the country" stakes, I think its a winner . Some wins some loss, but a lot less disruptive than it could have been.

And your opinion?

I like to feign cynicism about the political process as a means of avoiding any engagement with it, so no opinions here. :)

More information available from Treasury's budget 2009 page - particularly the Executive Summary and Key facts for taxpayers.

It seems unnecessarily bleak, but so does the fiscal outlook, so there you go.
