What Is This Noise A Sign Of?

Postby FLATULENTFRIEND on Sun 7/Mar/10 10:25pm

On my 904 (full 105) the BB is now creaking (outboard bearings) :(
Why would it have started doing that and what is it a sign of? (its done say 4 - 5k kms)

Could be a number of reasons. Why not replace it and see if the noise goes away?

anywhere there can be movement give it a touch of grease, dropouts, deraillier hangers etc... are your chainring bolts and pedals greased?

Was this a NEW bike? That's your problem right there - second-hand is the only way to go. :hmmm:

Is it a steel frame? Steel frames make friendly noises and carry you for decades; frames made from all other materials are swearing at you and planning to break at the first opportunity. ;) :sly: :paranoid:

most times for me creaking comes from pedals. if you have another set of pedals try swapping and see if noise goes away.

 I'm warming to these serious answers...
I think it's the BB 'cause when I stand up and pedal that is where the noise is coming from (ok, so that only eliminates the seat... ).
It's secondhand and alloy = about to break
They all want $ spend on them :(
Grease the chainring bolts?!
Post a pic...youtube clip (alright for you youngin's) :eh:
Checked the front QR (rear? )
