Hmm. Feel like I should try wider but I already have handlebar strikes on tight tech stuff :hmmm:

820

Bloody marvelous until they are not -> tapping trees too often.

Will cut them to 780.

Me too. But after swapping bikes with a mates 780mm protapers I've now got some 780mm protapers coming.

I'm not sure if I'll keep them at 780 or cut them down. But the gain in stability over 680mm was badly needed for that type of riding.
I'll be keeping 680 on my more XC bikes.

785 on the FS
760 on the HT

Happy with both, thought I'd cut down the 785s after a few goes, then didn't. Wide is good.

Another 760 user here. I've done a lot of playing and 750-760 with 5/9 feels the best to me. Any wider feels like I'm losing agility.

I'll definitely never run any less than 750 now that I'm used to it - both because its better and because adjusting between widths kinda sucks. Don't care if its a cheap xc bike, it would still get bars to match my other bikes.

I've clonked the end of the bar on trees but never hit my hand or affected my steering - as long as you have spacial awareness you should know where your hand is so you maneuver around trees no matter the width.

750 x 50-60 on the big bike and 740 x 70-80 on the hardtail.... I swap my stems fairly regularly

Went up as high as 800 before settling back at 750. Wellington trails are too narrow for much more than that for me. At 800 I clipped trees all the time, usually painfully. The last one involved my chainring opening up my knee right through to the bone.
