the bad news is I'm in the exact same boat (you have about 1 month before I join you in vet2)

anyway, last time I raced nats at vulcaniser I sneakily dropped from vet1 to vet2 'too keep my mate company' (read: avoid having even count stylie whip my ass in vet1) - and the bad news was even then there were heaps of sick oldies in vet2 who STILL ripped my legs off

Congrats mfw - it really aint too bad - the offspring continue to force you to grow as they do (in the mind  , not around the middle :( ), and slowly but surely you get more and more of your own life back, till suddenly you have much more access to that golden, magical thing called TIME ... then the training and riding and relaxing and stuff can really kick back in and you will feel 10 years younger .... :)

given that I was not only DFL, but in danger of having the kiddies race start before finished, the extra 30s added didn't seem significant

the hard part was convincing the organiser to leave me as a DNF rather than posting my actual (shocking) time ;) :D

Short of winning a National Title in M1 before I turn 40 in June there isn't really a lot I feel I haven't done. If I can ride 3:45min for 3000m at track nats Rach Cottam will shout me free entry to Tour of Taranaki next year. I guess racing in the snow and rain is something to look forward to.
