What's Oropi Grove Like ?

Postby PhilterNZ on Fri 3/Dec/04 7:06pm

Planning a small road trip next week down to Rotorua and Taupo and dropping into Oropi Grove on Friday afternoon.

Whats the riding like there at this time of year and what would be a recommended loop be couple of hours riding. I am not fussed on the style of riding - uphill/downhill/trail/XC though I am not wanting anything hardcore...

anywhere in there is only ¼ an hour from the car park.
there is heaps of different styles to choose in there. some madcore stuff, nth shore structures, jumps, big ass step downs thru to easy crusy stuff.
a full lap of the XC type track only takes about 3/4 hour but the options while in there round that up a fair bit specially after a couple of runs down the new entry track and a few laps of The Pines

give me a yell when your coming over. i will get there for a ride fridays..... or pretty much any other time :D

Cool thanks FB, that sounds pretty cool

I will be finalising plans over the weekend, but I am reckoning on hitting Tauranga about mid-day Friday after a short morning spin around the Redwoods.

I will post after the weekend and let you know plans and flick you my cell.

Me and Wachy went out the other day. Tracks were all in good, slightly tacky condition. Some of the stuffs getting so big now that it's gonna start putting the casual punters off, lots of 20-30ft tabletop type stuff. Might see you out there.

*good to see you can spell Oropi right

Kyle and I will make an appearance. I will have my dh bike fixed w00t w00t. So it means instead of riding up hills I'll be back to pushing up things and riding down.

I may huck myself off some things so yous can laugh if I crash.

Kyle you have to do the small stepdown if I do it (which I will) :p

Fraser that new entry track is poo.

Kyle the tracks weren't tacky they were slippery.

Logger when it's wet it's fun. I didn't arse off at all, probably cos I ride too slow on my hardtail.

If traffic and all plans go well I should be in the carpark at 1.00

That is if I can find the place, I am coming up from Vegas and dropping people off at either the Mount if it is sunny or town if it aint then driving back out to Oropi.

Be cool to see some ppl there crashing, I mean going large...
