Got chance to take some photos and a good look at my track wheels this weekend.

IMG_20150215_102333.jpg

Ordered them 3pm on Sunday and they where sat on my doorstep at 9am Tuesday morning. That's pretty good I reckon. Unboxing them, wow first peek, these wheels are pink, not vivid pink but pink rims with pink stickers, and importantly for an individual with OCD tendencies, all the stickers where on straight.

Seams look good, spoke tension, as determined by squeeze couples of spoke together seemed okay. Giving them a quick spin, rims run straight and true. BUT, the bearings felt awefull, they had grease in them, just way too much pre-load. Maybe they're set up tight to bed in. I think I'd rather run them a bit freer for now, then check the free play after they've bedded in a bit.

The rear hub is a flip-flop type so I can choose to run it fixie or single speed. The supplied rear sprocket and lock ring spun on simple enough, once I'd worked out which way each went. The sprocket supplied was a 16 tooth and was just cheap pressed steel jobbie, so needed a light filing on the underside to remove the burring on the teeth.

All things considered, pretty bloody good for $40 a wheel.

I'd be inclined to get a machined steel cog Rik, will have a much better fit on the thread giving much better longevity.

^^This.

And if you gonna ride it on the velodrome, get a 15t (assuming that you're gonna run a 48 or 49 on the front)

Just got an email from torpedo7. If you enter the code 'BLACK13' you score an extra 13% off any of their clearance items, till Sunday.

Don't forget please visits them via a link on vorb so we get credited for the sale :D To make things a bit easier I've added a little banner at the top of this page. Hope it not too obtrusive, but it is for a bloody good cause :)
