Yes I'll be keen as to join you for this ride too. If we are going to the carpark at the end of the road just bear in mind that there's two fords to cross, some 6k climb from the end. Usually ok for cars but sometimes not. I will take my 4WD so I know where I'll be parking.... I have a double carrier plus some room in the back for one in bits just in case so anyone who would like a ride is most weclome. Be leaving from Kaiapoi, too.

My van is 4wd too ;)

Those fords are only a problem if it has been raining recently...

we drowned a car in the first ford last week, which put a damper on riding, ie, killed it completely...(read the post in me blog post here). pays to have clearance... luckily, no 'hydraulic'ing of the engine, just electrics, so we got going again later on... it looked a little high, but i never thought it would be nearly as deep as it was. gallons of water pouring in as we opened the doors, trashing the carpet and leather upholstery... yeah, it'd been raining overnight.

pays to take the downstream/right hand line on that first one...

Nice work...

Yeh, you learn to make the passenger walk fords before you drive them if you cant see the bottom... you only have to drown a car about once to learn this ;)

Those fords can be resonably deep even at low flow!!

I've still got room, and the ride itself is about 30k return. There's one or two places that you have to lift the bikes up or down but nothing too major.

Looks like a goer

I'll be grabbing a lift with John (orangeboy) it looks like- but everyone is welcome to meet at my place at Edgeware to sort out pooling...... and we can leave from there.... pending offers to take others.

So who has room to spare and is coming along?

OK, so I am planning on being at Mr Rigids house at about 8.15 with the van... There will be 3 or 4 seats (and spaces for bikes) spare in the van or I am happy to jump in a car with other people.

As he is in Edgeware and I am in Sydenham, if you happen to live somewhere in between I can probably pick you up on my way over.
