Just been reading the Whakatane MTB club website - I didnt even know Whakatane HAD a club?


Could anyone comment on how the track is going up Burma Road? (thats the same road that the landfill is on right?) I'd be keen to know what sort of development is going on up there and definately keen to lend a hand when we get over there -

Track area is eastern end of Burma Road, access from the Ohope - Opotiki Road, about 5 k's from Harbour road turnoff.

First track virually complete with seperate exit track for safety. Offical opening of this on 19/8/06 (see website for details). Still heaps of great areas to develop and any assistance is always appreciated, if you are in town contact myself or another committee member for working bee details (see "contact" page for detals).

Memebrship form can be sent on request, (fees-$15 Junior, $25 Senior and $45 Family)

Ahh we have been sprung, yes our covert operation in the back blocks is ready to take on one and all. We are officially launching the new Mountain Bike Park on Sat 19 Aug at 1.30pm. Meet at the Rawhiti Forest gate on the Eastern end of Burma Road, short (very short) ceremony followed by fun time trial, activities etc... Bring a plate, softdrinks for sale etc.. Plus our new club Ts at $25 each

Awesome guys, great to hear it, as I may soon be relocating to Ohope beach and I was a little worried about the lack of riding...

Now the harsh questions: If i was to sign up as a member, and become a local, could I come up and build some big drops and jumps there?
