GAHH! Tugboat is about to take me from behind :0

...When I get back from the farm I'm going to go out and set a super-quick* time to secure my 3rd-from-the-bottom spot.

If wee Makara Hill is too short for you, here's another time trial you might like to consider.

I started at Freyberg, rode up Oriental Terrace to the monastary (straight into oxygen debt...) then up the road to the summit of Mt Vic, even carrying my bike up the stairs. Down past Byrd memorial, and down the dove tail to Pirie St. Up the footpath on Vivian St, the Tory St, and Webb St. Through Central Park and then up the roads to the windmill and the summit of Hawkins. Then, down the ridge and to Wrights Hill via the Long Gully access and the fenceline. Down the road into Karori, then up St Albans and the snakecharmer to Makara Peak... There, I stopped for three seconds to feel up my knee...

Back down Snakecharmer, through Karori, past the BMX track, then up into Northland, and up the STEEP STEEP driveway at the south end of Tinakori Hill to the summit, then along the ridge to Wadestown. Through Crofton Downs, Ngaio etc to Broadmeadows, then up as far as Sirsi Cres and onto Mt Kau Kau. All the way to the summit, then back down, via Ngaio Gorge and past the stadium back to Freyberg...

Phew!

Last summer, I did the ride in about four hours after a night on the piss... It was suggested to me that 3h30 would be respectable, and promising preparation for the Akatarawa Attack in just over a week's time...

I am STOKED with 3h11 ;) I'm carrying about 5kg of fat I don't need, but the legs are coming to the party again after a long lay off...

PS: two weeks ago I rode a couple of times up Makara Hill in 8'45. I'll be faster next time ;)

Bro! Awesome loop. Just remember that the 5kg is your insurance policy, and a reminder to train semi sensibly and take care of the knee so you don't have any enforced lay offs again soon.

Let's go ride and brekkie next week!
