Wanted - Pike/lyric/sektor/36 Etc.

Postby tricky on Sat 30/Aug/14 9:14am

The Pikes on my Trailstar ragabout bike have started making alarming creaking noises, so on the lookout for a replacement and not having a lot of luck through the usual channels.

Need a tough 1 1/8 steerer, 20mm thru axel travel adjust fork with 140-150mm travel. The old Pikes were perfect, would go a little bigger (shorter travel Lyric or 36 TALAS) but not much smaller as the bike gets ridden pretty hard, suspect I'd kill a RS Relevation in pretty short order. Travel adjust important as use it for lite FR as well as trail and a bit of DJ/urban.

Alternately if anyone had any idea where I could source a replacement Pike (or Argyle) CSU for a reasonable price, that would probably be the perfect solution.

Thx

Just be careful going tooooooooooooo big. The Trailstars aren't rated for huge forks. On mine I only run my one owner from new 2005 Pikes at 120 at the longest.

Remember the saying, your Trailstar is only as good as the drunk pin that welded it together! Lolz.

I'd be trying to get those ones serviced out before spending on replacing fella

Bah! What version 'star? + what rider weight & style?

Mine has been sweet for around 3 years now with a 160mm fork.

I am light and wussy though.

Already made a couple of calls and IFAIK it's not viable to get the steerer tube or stanchions reseated, if anyone knows otherwise let me know. So the only repair option is a replacement CSU, which even if I could find one I'd guess it wouldn't be any cheaper than a 2nd hand fork.

The frame is a later model Trailstar LT, so specified for 140mm fine.
