The Snail Trail dig is in fact on this coming Sunday the 29th of March.

I really enjoyed today's dig, there is something about building rock walls that appeals to me

Thanks to the many volunteers that came out today, no chance of taking home any of those Easter eggs afterwards :(

Had my second ride at Wainui today and had a peek down the Snail Trail. This will be really good when it is finished. Those rock walls/pathways are looking awesome .
There is quite a bit of activity in the park with bulldozers on the flat and others working on the new loop trail.
These extra tracks will add to the variation and enjoyment.

Keep up the good work. :)

Thanks for the offer, though we already have those tracks covered.

But now that you mention it, a course involving Jungle Gym, Labyrinth, Spoonhill, 491, Konini Firebreak, ECNZ Pylon Road, and Beeline does make for a great ride. Hmmm, will look at including it as a 'Classic ride'...

In the meantime, any other offers of content for the Tracks database are always appreciated (including GPS logs, videos, photos, and track condition reports).

Cheers,

Ian.

A big thank you to the 8 hardy souls that turned up today. Despite the first of the showers coming in just before the working bee was due to start it remained pretty dry under the trees and we got a beautiful bit of track built...

Special thanks to Marty and Dave for there assistance in running today's working bee, without out them I'd have had to do some work :D :p :D

Snail Trail dig this week.

Sunday the 19th July, starting from 10:00am

Meet at the trail end, wander up Labyrinth until you see the turn off just before the first section of wooden retaining. Digging is happening about 500m down the track.

Food and tools and provided.

In other news:

* Thanks to Neil we now have some temporary signs about the place, this should make it a little easier to find your way around the place.
* Due to circumstances outside our control we had been unable to gravel Jungle Scout ( the link between the end of Waiu St and Jungle Gym), consequently the track has become an unrideable bog. Jungle Scout is now graveled and ready to be ridden in.

Just to let you know we've started doing a little bit of maintenance on the end of Spoonhill. Hopefully the bit we've done should be a bit more weather resistant now. We may have a couple of working bees in the near future to finish off the work.

A note to those that do their own unauthorised work:
  • Please don't create alternate lines, it's not good for the bush
  • Please do not use branches as retaining, it creates a problem someone else has to tidy up.
  • Please consider all track users, the track isn't designed for your exclusive use.
With little bit of thought it is possible to do things that will achieve a bike friendly trail that is sustainable and suitable for shared use.
