No, I haven't done a thing to it! I still need to find my old Stronglight crank-puller before I can really get into it...

I have a 1986/7 Vitus 979. Weigh's just over 9kg and goes like shit off a shiny shovel! :satan:

It's my one and only roadie bike but I love it to death & still manage to chew up the carbon brigade on the hills!
I'm quite sure AL its the shit ON the shiny shovel that makes the Vitus go.
Have you ridden it recently?

Yep - had to spend some spondoolies getting her fixed up again though but she's running perfectly now. Slapped on some original retro Look pedals that weigh a ton which go with my super retro looking old roadie shoes! :p

My retro ride is early 80's Guerciotti, was Campag, Modolo and Omas equiped but sadly all that has disappeared. Now has Shimano 600 with TTT stem and Cinelli bars.

Recently noticed a dent in the top tube so have retired it :(
Anyone know who can repair steel frames ?

If it's not a major dent it's likely quite rideable. To repair it you'd need to have the tube sweated out and replaced, or gusseted.

Post a pic of the dent.

Some dents can be removed without replacing the tube - effectively squeezed out, although I'm lacking a bit in the exact terminology. The paint will be damaged though...

Kool, be sad to scrap it !
I'll pull the camera out tomorrow.

I have to say after borrowing a newer bike for the last 2 weeks I'm not sure I'd ever ride the Guerciotti seriously again.

Much confusion tho upon visiting the bike shops, the new kit seems a far cry from the stuff of the 80's so deciding on what to get will be the next prob. I'll think I'll start a new thread for that tho
