At the last working bee a hard-working crew pushed the first trail through to the end of its loop. So our first complete loop is now open to riders. The loop consists of an uphill on the 4X4 track, veer left near the top onto a windy downhill on the newly constructed section of trail until it brings you back out onto the 4x4 track. By the time you ride up the newly cleared forestry road to the start of the loop and then complete the loop itself, you have had an excellent workout especially if you started from Pirongia Village and ridden up the hill to get there. The more riders who go over it, the sooner the track will smooth out to speedy perfection, so get up there and give it a go or even several goes. Good parking now available up there. And I meant to comment on the track. It is hand-made singletrack, not technical track and should be ridable by most punters, but it is at the top of a 15min (approx) bike up the forestry access road. Alas, it doesn't descend all the way back down the hill, but this is the first of many tracks the club intends to build so come along and help us out if you can. Working bees 1st Sunday of each month, 9am at the forestry gate. (not sure who will turn up this weekend though).
