What Bike To Take To Chile

Postby shmoodiver on Wed 12/Aug/09 8:15pm

off to chile next year to build some trails and i have a couple of bikes that i could take, a dmr trailstar steamer spec with lyrics or a bighit spec with 888's and a cheap build. would it be worth making a softail trail bike out of the two, pighit spec with lyrics and 2x8 and my trail wheels etc... will build up to similar weight to dmr

dmr or get a new fully AM frame. the specialized is not an option because it uses FSR and it would be an absolute pig to commute between the trail build sites each day. On the bright side though you will get super fit.

personally i'm going to take my 6" full sus keewee or claim my little brother's slacker for half a year. Either way i'm looking forward to it and don't really care what i'm riding as long as it can go up hill and doesn't break on the way down.

I'm taking an FSR

But mines a lightweight 4" 4x rig with a pro-pedal shock so it's gonna rip up those trails!

I'd go for a hardtail with durable bits (like 8 speed and some reliable forks like vanillas)

I imagine getting replaceement bits may be an arse in Chile (I have nothing to base this on)

Have a rad time. I'm uber jealous (kind of)

lyrics have proven to be durable so far, and it does make sense to take the moar simple of bieks

It's scientifically proven that people who ride trailstars are FAR cooler than the general population. Go the DMR :D
