Does Chch Have Trials Riders ???

Postby slowMTB on Tue 14/Jul/09 4:53pm

Well, not entirely true. I got a e-mail reply from one but said person has not replied since :(

So apart from #1 there appears to be no other riders. Guess I will be going it alone.
So far my efforts have been both promising AND disappointing. Balance is improving sloooooooooowly and I can now spin around on the front wheel achieving a full 90* ish

It is going to be a challenge 4 SURE ! :)

Are you on a trails bike?
Or just a jump bike?

Promise not to laugh, but I purchased an old GT mod Team Trials bike. Not the latest and greatest I know but little $$$ outlay and should be ok to try and get down the basics ?

So far so good

$300 - it is in mint condition. Not even a scratch on the bash plate ( until today  ).
Magura hydro brakes both ends etc etc.
A guy was checking it out at Bottle Lake and told me that all the gear on it is quality stuff. It is a lot of fun
My only reservation is whether I should have gone 26" wheels though :ib:

I have no idea about trials though, gonna be fun.

Look up Ryan Leech on You Tube for some "how to's" ;)

Think you'll find the word is trials, my son.

Nifty wee bike, slowMTB. I had a vintage as Monty when I tried my hand at it. Very good fun, very tiring and sometimes frustration. But I was clawing my way up boxes in a day. Lurching on the back wheel was quite hard to learn - takes a heap of coordination.

Good luck!

There are actually quite a few trials riders in chch. To get in contact with some trials guys down there call Lyall Sinclair. His phone number is on this site http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Ramp/2901/
