Christchurch local Rebecca Hensley and Dunedin local Christina Padman are ‘going along for the ride’ – literally – with the Tour de France in Paris, next month. They both won trips today through RaboPlus – the online savings and investment arm of Rabobank – in conjunction with BikeNZ’s Ridestrong.
Both avid cyclists, Rebecca and Christina will get to rub shoulders with the world’s best riders. As winner of the competition, Rebecca Hensley (28) will spend Friday 24 July in the Rabobank team’s support vehicle for Stage 18 of the race, and the following two days in the team’s VIP tent on the Champs-Élysées. As runner up, Christina Padman (23) will also hang out in Rabobank’s VIP tent that weekend, July 25-26.
Mike Heath, General Manager for RaboPlus, is pleased to be supporting local cycling in New Zealand through its sponsorship of BikeNZ.
“The Tour de France is the trip of a lifetime for any Kiwi cyclist – we’re delighted that Rebecca and Christina both have this opportunity. It’s just another way we can get behind the sport here in New Zealand.”
Mike Heath also cites the strong track record of parent company Rabobank, which has been sponsoring cycling in the Netherlands and at a professional level – including the Tour de France – for many years.
