What's The Optimal Ratio Of Lard To 100s And 1000s?

Postby Tama on Fri 12/Jun/09 2:20pm

Following a discussion at lunch today - if one was attempting to make a foodstuff out of lard and 100s and 1000s what would the optimal ratio be? :eh:

Too many 100s and 1000s make your mouth go all dry and crunchy.

Ah but I'm sure it wouldn't take much lard at all to keep your chops suitable moisturised.

Also, percentage based on volume or weight? I'm sure the densities of lard and 100s and 1000s are different...

Bird Pudding
Materials: One pound lard (or leftover cooking fat),
one cup hot water,
two cups oatmeal, one cup flour, four cups wild birdseed,
large pan, mixing spoons.

Procedure: Soften the lard or fat over warm heat in the large pan. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bird pudding can be slathered into any kind of container-type feeder.

so a simple substitution gives you one pound of lard (450 grams) and five cups (1 cup = 236 gr so 1180 grams)of 100's and 1000's.

sounds deliciious

Apparently he is waiting on the various suppliers to send him samples of the different lards and the different 100's and 1000's :eh:

100's and 1000's don't actually taste very nice (go get a spoonfull and try) so you'd only want enough for a medium coverage (say 50%) otherwise it's yukkie.

Who else is depressed by the size of the new mellopuffs? And toffie pops? WTF! Stingy bastards, back in the gold ole days there was mellow & puff galore!!

I think Cadbury has sneakily decreased the size of their blocks too... Hidden it with a new package design. Apparently food manufacturers have been up to a bit of that lately - instead of raising prices, just make stuff smaller. Ooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu naughty :hmmm:
