More Stolen Bikes! Hoorah For Christchurch!

Postby richardg on Fri 1/May/09 4:00pm

Hey there, last night, or this morning, some prick threw a rock through the rear window of our spare car, which is parked on the street. It turns out this was just a test to see if anyone around was paying attention. After this they snuck between our hedge and garage, and removed a window from the garage, then climbed in and bent one of my benches as they did. They then took my bike, Mels bike, Mels old bike, and a spare pair of boxxer forks, and a spare rear shock, out through that same window I'd guess, since the door was still locked this morning.

Now what makes this particularly hilarius is that Mels bike is fairly unique, and my bike is truly one of a kind, in fact it is own kind. Even more funny is that the key part of my bike, the Rohloff hub, is currently in Wellington getting the seals upgraded, making my bike almost completely useless...

At any rate once again I have been reminded of the expression "Christchurch, its a great place, its a shame about the people" But I'm sure Vorb can come through again!

So if anyone sees hears or finds out whose arse deserves a bullet (not a Santa Cruz Bullet) please post a reply, or call me or Mel on 981 2170.

The bikes are:
Mels old bike - GT I-drive with the big ball bearing BB thing, Fox float forks, I don't know if I'll be able to find a half reasonable photo...

2005? Rock shox Boxxer World cup forks, the ones with the "slippery silver" upper tubes

Rock shox Pearl 3.1 rear shock, 216 eye to eye, its the one they advertise as 2.5" stroke, but unless your bike has 10 inches of falling rate travel it is only a 2" stroke shock.

Mels bike - Maroon homebuilt, Specialised enduro rear triangle in the Turner style, which Specialised have only recently caught up to. Fox 36 RC2 forks, the first year, brown colour, R sliders. DHX air rear shock, (2.5" stroke, 220mm length) off a specialised Enduro also, so it doesn't have the shrader valve to charge the secondary chamber with. XTR cranks, XT penguin shifters and brakes. Thomson seat post. And a brand new seat!

My bike - green homebuilt, look at the photo. Race Face cranks have the granny rings mounting threads sawn off, 08 Boxxer team forks, DHX air shock (3" stroke, 9.5" length) Surly rear hub modified to take Maxle through axle, American classic freewheel modified to have 74BCD 5 bolt chainring carrier on it. And a brand new seat!

Yeah, so my bike should dissappear since it looks the same as every other bike out there...

Ha ha, but certainly it won't be much use without the gearbox in the middle of it..

Not the best picture of mel, but the best picture of her old bike.. GT Idrive..

True, the bike has a jinx!, not really, its one of those homebuilt things that factory bike riders don't have / or that factory bikes don't have? Anyway with homebuilts, they know what their riders are thinking. Well actually in this case Mels bike knew that I am planning to make her a new bike over this winter, in spite of Mel not wanting a new bike since she likes this one so much, and therefore its sweetness started glowing so strongly that some hollow arsmuncher with not a hint of decency was attacted to it, through a rainy night, and steel walls, thinking that if he had such a nice thing then maybe his sole might sing...

A similar thing happened when I started planning and working on my previous bike, the "heart of gold", anyway when this happened my previous bike "Shadowfax" started misbehaving. Factory bikes just don't do that kind of thing... I would say that HofG started playing up when I started work on Solow (the green bike) but others would claim that it always misbehaved...

That's really sad. Dumb bastard thieves can't be bikers otherwise they'd know they can never sell those bikes.

If I see anyone riding them I'll kick them in the balls. Repeatedly.

I also had two bikes stolen last nite/ this morning
one was a Kona Stab Supreme the other was a Specalized P3
the Kona had no brakes as they were about to be transfered onto the p3 it had a race face diablos stem bar and chainguide it had an atomlab pimp rear wheel(black) and sun rims S-type front rim(orange) it also had an xt shadow deralier and 888's

the p3 was very unique it was a 2005 model but had aftermarket v-brake mounts prfesionaly welded to the frame it had no cranks or bottom braket as new ones were on there way it had xtr hubs laced to a maveric x618 rim an x9 deralier and x7 shifter. the seat and seat post was out of the bike and the theives left that. it had hayes 9 brakes and Black fox 32 with 130mm travel. the chain was hanging off the bike so the thieves must of had a car
