I hope his conviction and his apparent return to moderately good favour amongst certain circles does not lead to his returning to our TV screens (when I watch telly it tends to be sports, so in the past I have been exposed to a disproportionately large amount of Tony Veitch

He was never going to go to jail. First time offender, showing remorse and all (well apparantly).

But thats the state of our justice system. There are others who have done far worse and have have escaped custodial sentences.

In my opinion 6 months jail would be more than suitable. But no, another one gets slapped in the face with a wet bus ticket and walks out a free man.

He was allegedly earning close to seven figures a year not because he could read a Teleprompter but because several media outlets had built him to be a marketable personality - the friendly face to be welcomed into your home at 6pm. There are plenty of things he can do with his life now, but being a marketable friendly face is not one of them.

And it sounds like some of the text of Susan Devoy's character reference was changed before being submitted to the courts, so that makes his lawyers drizzly dog shit as well.
