Coronet Peak Open On Waitangi Day, Closed On Saturday

Postby Melissa_Theuriau on Thu 5/Feb/09 9:20am

Coronet Peak will be open on Waitangi Day from 11:30am to 7:30pm (weather permitting) for all your chairlift-assisted alpine riding needs. However the mountain biking trails will be closed on Saturday the 7th of February for the Brake Burner event. The public are welcome to come and spectate at the Brake Burner but only competitors will be allowed on the trails.

Whether you enjoy cruising along or blazing downhill, The Peak has lift served trails to suit both novice and seasoned mountain bike enthusiasts alike.

Mountain biking junkies can push themselves to the limit and ride uphill, or take the chair and then navigate the best way down the varied trails, from tricky & technical to smooth & flowing.

Families can ride the Coronet Express chairlift to the top of the mountain to sightsee and explore NZ’s native sub-alpine flora or indulge in the vast scenery and some of the best views in The Southern Lakes whilst taking in all the downhill action.

Forecast looking spot on for Brake Burner. Not too hot and light Norwesterly. I'd rather ride under cloud cover than have my tits roasted -

Mate not to knock your forecast but had a look at Metvuw. Looks like no cloud cover with a high sitting over lower South Island. Very light ( 5 knotish ) Norwesterly.
